Vasart Transitional, but whose initials?
« on: April 13, 2006, 11:18:15 AM »
I have what I believe to be a Transitional Vasart/Strathearn paperweight VS001 as shown on www.ysartglass.com/Vascat/VasStrVS001.htm .
On the base there are initials (scratched) K.B. Can anyone shed any light on this please?
Neither my camera nor my photographic skills enable me to photograph the initials-  sorry

Regards
John

Hello John.

I think I remember this weight from approx. 5 years ago. I purchased a group of 3 or 4 weights Vasart/Strathearn from an auction house in Chichester West Sussex. I think all of the weights had a small KB scratched on the base and at that time I decided they were probably the initials of a previous owner, but that was only a guess. If memory serves the base of this weight was ground flat but not polished? The weight shown on Frank's brilliant site is the same weight, I remember sending Frank the picture.

Not much info. but hope its of interest to you.

Regards Carol

Thank you Carol and Simone for your replies.
You are absolutely correct about the base, Carol. Must be the very same weight. I purchased it recently from a German seller on Ebay.
