In that case I think perhaps there might be a little personal interpretation with this word retro :)..........aren't I aware of seeing some of the Bargain Hunt type programmes using this word to describe pieces from the 50's and 60's  -  but whatever.          I seem to recall that back in the good old days, vintage was used to describe something that was c. 50 years old, and antique implied 100 years or more  -  but I suppose like retro its all changed.          Anything more than 10 years old is now probably considered an antique ;D

I'm with Nic. If it's new pretending to be old, it's retro; if it's old, it's old! People don't think about what they say and what it really means! These old objects are useful when trying to achieve a retro look; that is where it has come from.

Aah, but they are.  :thud:
"Efficiency savings" is the new expression for "putting folk out of work".
(same as "quantitative easing" is the new expression for "massive devaluation".)

Fewer folk to do the actual work, but expected to accomplish more than more folk did in the first place.

I think I use vintage for over 50 years old - but mostly avoid "retro". It means too many different things to too many folk!

Old is relative. In "thing" terms and today's disposable society, 20 or 30 years is old; last year's model is old. A two year old hamster is old and two year old person is still a baby.

I'm vintage.
That means 20-30 years old isn't old at all - not to me.  :smg:

When I've been selling at fairs in the past, I've noticed that quite a few people think that anything made after 1939 "has no age". One woman took one look at my stall of primarily 1950s-70s glass and loudly exclaimed "It's all brand new! It shouldn't be allowed."  ;D

She was veering towards the Blue Rinse end of the human lifespan.

A lot of the younger TV extwerps do exactly the same, though, which is quite saddening.
