Mushroom (#2) Black-ish // Purple-ish
« on: August 19, 2011, 08:06:02 AM »
 :hi:

Here is the second Mushroom PW that I bought from the UK lady here selling some of her stuff she had brought with her a few years ago.  I thought is was Black, but when held up to the light, it is Purple-ish since I guess there is No such thing as Black Glass.  See well made, and I have no idea of the maker or the year.  Not sure what the mark is on the bottom (might it be the fire mark ??) but I forget who that was (Some *student* I am.... :24: :spls:  ).

So if anyone can help me, I would be gratefully Thankful.

I have no clue if that is a fire mark, or a letter on the bottom.... :help:

 :kissy:

These are my 1st Mushroom Paperweights.   She must have liked Mushrooms  :sm:

Rose if youo rotate the base photo 180 degrees that central stamp looks very like a Kiwi.  I personally have never seen a base mark like that but I will see what I can find out with a couple of contacts.  Have I your permission to pass on the photo?

Hi there Ross:

Sure you have my permission to pass on the photo.  That is what we're all here for.  I had deleted the rest of my Photos after I posted these -- but I may try taking some more closer, and rotated 180 degrees  :usd: ..... LOL

Your saying it *looks* like a Kiwi Bird ---- Not a Kiwi Fruit (right?? )   :24:  ;D

I can see what Ross means Rose ( Kiwi, NOT kiwifruit!!) .....I was looking through some NZ glassworks pieces on Google,  but I think Ross has a greater chance, given where he lives.
Rosie.

Whoops, still had a another pic here on the computer.   Guess I did keep an extra pic just in case, but it was late here when I posted, so I forgot what I had kept....

You mean *flip* it around this way?  :nk:

I can see what you mean now, but I would have never *seen* a bird before you had mentioned it.  So this way is the right Flip?

Not quite that is only 90 degrees.

I have also included a picture from Google images of a "Kiwi Bird" for comparison.

Well Rose I have put out feelers and hope to get some news for you.  :sun:   I have asked Angela Bowey - as she lives in NZ half her time and has a lovely pwt collection - including some cracking NZ pieces.  I have also been in touch with the President of the New Zealand Society of Artists in Glass who is putting the question in the form of a quiz in the magazine soon to comer out.  Hopefully someone will come up with a response.

Wow Ross   -- You did a lot of work there, and Angela Bowey is the provider of this Website.

Thanks for doing all of that -- keep us informed.  I would have *never* seen a Kiwi Bird      in that imprint....even IF I had looked at it a Zillion Times.

Thanks!!  :kissy:
