ID blown pink glass bowl?
« on: August 27, 2011, 09:24:28 PM »
I don't know where to start looking to ID this. I really don't have a clue other than Art Deco - and there is so much stuff that isn't Art Deco when you google it - arrgggghhhhh - just like ebay!

Ok, hand blown

lovely shade of pink

nicely ground edges.

looks like quality

6" diameter.

Looks too big to be from a dressing table set but similar in design - but again, looks better quality that what I have seen on dresser sets.

photo of the bottom doesn't show pontil dimple but the top of the lid.

are there any seams?  is it pressed glass? can you take your photos against a plain white background please so the piece can be seen clearly and also always include a picture of the base please?
many thanks

yeah, I should report you to a MOD :wsh:

I know some of my photos are pretty bad. so more info. There are no deliberate marks on the base but you can see it's blown, ridges n ripples.

ok, found something white. hope this helps you help me!

Has it got ridges or ripples round the bottom of the side? If so it's possibly Stuart Stratford pattern, see this topic for various examples of the Stratford range (there was loads of it!): http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,40522.0.html

Hi I collect Stratford, Anne dropped me a line asking if I recognised your piece; I have a amber bowl just like yours, but I don't think its Stuart - I'm not sure who the maker was but the stepped base is very similar to Stuart shapes - but the ground rim isn't consistent with their methods, so I relucantly discounted Stuart - sorry, your quest continues!
