You make an interesting point there Sue.  Obviously, the purpose of a vase is to put flowers in, but with these art glass vases, were the makers' intentions to create a stand-alone piece, not to be used for any practical purpose?  Or did they envisage their pieces with flowers within?  Hmmm, interesting!

A defining feature of Studio Art Glass is that while the form created may be based loosely on something functional such as a vessel, it is not created to be used as such.

I have absolutely no need for vases.
I do feel a need for Art.

You really coudln't put flowers in it. Maybe one flower but what's the point. It would only detract from its beauty.

I actually have a few glass flowers around the house in vases but never have real ones.
