I looked through eBay and noticed that Napoleone Martinuzzi must have made a lot more things than he is credited with. I found a tutti frutti ashtray, a flea bitten dog, some leaning vases, one Spanish monstrosity, and some dolphin glasses that he designed. Goodness, he was busy.
I wrote one seller who was selling something pretty expensive and asked him why he felt it was Martinuzzi. I asked if he could provide some documentation because I didn't want to spend so much money without being sure what I was buying. Needless to say I have not heard back from him.
Now the big question -- why Martinuzzi? Was it that someone learned to spell the name from that horse that had it scratched really big across the base? I don't know about you guys, but I really don't like to see the names of my favorite people drug through the mud by the less than honorable types on eBay. I don't like to see the Martinuzzi name trashed like they did the Martens name.
There is a good rule of thumb for Napoleone Martinuzzi -- it it's ugly, it's not him. I should add, if it's trivial, it's not him.
