Could this Charcoal Color Jar Be Murano? Has a label Made In Italy
« on: September 14, 2011, 08:09:36 PM »
I bought this because I love the color plus it has a Made In Italy label and I am hoping that it is Murano possibly Serguso. Thanks to anybody that might have some info on it and like to share it with me. It is It is about 13" tall and has a darker color on the bottom. It has a lid that does come off.

Personally, the only place I've seen that kind of label before is on "Alrose" decanters:

Probably from the Empoli region of Italy rather than Murano.

Definitely not Archimede Seguso. It is not his label. Do like it though.
Clean and Crisp a Murano twist.
Archimede tops my list.

The label is one the ones used on Empoli glass. That makes me wonder about Alrose. Exactly where is Alrose?

It is Empoli - unless it is Altare. The item in that particular colour is either pharmacy glass or based upon it. Used in pharmacies for keeping dry ingredients on the shelf, so it has a small footprint.

Thank you so much for the help! I have been collecting glass for many years and I have never heard of Alrose or Empoll. I will do the research and maybe I will get a definite answer. It is a really nice piece of glass and the color is gorgeous. Thanks again for the help!

I have to let you all know that I will be researching the name Empoli not Empoll. I have been reading these post on my IPad without my glasses on and Empoli looked like Empoll at first. After researching for awhile I realized the error in the spelling. When researching with the wrong spelling and finding very few items I thought, WOW I have a rare item! After the correcting the spelling now I am thinking maybe not. Also I would like to add that I know that Seguso does not have a r in the spelling, that was a miss type.  :rn:

Makes me wonder about Alrose also.  Perhaps the lamp I have that is from Empoli is made by Alrose.  That makes more sense now.  Perhaps the confusion is solved.

Did we ever find out if Alrose is a manufacturer, or importer/retailer?  Has the name ever been seen on any labels?  I've only ever heard of it from the Leslie Pina books myself...
