Topic: Large Green/Opaque Mystery Object - insulator? light fitting? Industrial?

I have a sinking feeling that no-one will be able to tell me what this is.   :cry:

7.5" high

It's big, it's heavy and it's green with a opaque white core.  Seriously ribbed down all sides with a rough ground base that obviously designed not to be seen.  No sign of how it might attach anywhere, although I suppose it could have had a spring-loaded bulb inside that has two sprung wires to hold the bulb in place?  There is a slight lip inside the ground base, but that's it.,,
Was thinking it was some kind of ridiculously glamourous insulator but having looked around, realised it's most likely not.  I'm currently thinking it might be some kind of light fitting?  Feels industrial though, if you see what I mean??

Any ideas?  I don't have any!

Going with the light shade + industrial theme, how about a shade for some kind of alarm, such as this:

More likely a newel post top, not practical to be used as a shade.

I think this is an in-house "sample" made with a spot mould. We have dozens and dozens of these here at Fenton, and they are useful in determining which spot moulds will work well with various shape moulds (either iron mould or paste mould).

Thank you all for your replies.  Thanks for that idea Wayne, I hadn't thought of that one! :kissy:  I am loving the idea of a newel post...especially an internally lit one!  That would be the very height of grooviness, wouldn't it??!!

James, please excuse my ignorance, but could you give a brief description of what a spot mould is please?

I think Spot Mould is US term for Dip mould. - Intrigued at James using the English spelling instead of US mold?
