date request for German pressed mug.
« on: September 20, 2011, 03:21:34 PM »
This mark appears in Ivo's book, and the factory was the German Sachsenglas Ottendorf-Okrilla  -  but I'm unsure of the date that Ivo is suggesting for this SG in a crown  -  I would have thought that this flat/ground outer rim was pre 1940  -  but really am not sure.       In the same way that Davidson commemorative mugs have a short rebated section at the top end of the handle  -  this one has a 'V' notch in the same area.         Also, does  anyone know what the rather feint impressed No. 1211 with upper case 'B' might mean??    Thanks for looking :)

I don't know but I search this site quite a bit myself. Maybe you will find it here:

 :hi: Paul,
SG stands for Sächsische Glasfabrik, Radeberg, from around 1932 owned by Walther Glas (AWS in heart)

Your mug appears in Walther Seidel-Katalog 1935, page 22

*Tübinger Walzenseidel*, gewöhnlich (common) or schwer (heavy) - mould no. 1210/11 height ca 107

I do not know what B stands for - the catalogue speaks of K and H only - may be a mark for export?

Experience teaches that anyone who begins to collect in any field can feel a change in his soul. He becomes a joyful man filled with a deeper empathy, and a more open understanding moves his soul.
