Three pieces of Murano
« on: September 20, 2011, 03:22:06 PM »
I wonder if someone might kindly be able to help us date & identify these three pieces of Murano - all with their labels

These pieces have been donated to Helen & Douglas House - we are a charity based in Oxford providing hospice care for children and young adults

Piece 1 - duck
From the label I would guess 1960s

Piece 2 - cat
Am I correct in thinking 1950s, quite a common piece?

Piece 3 - a silver topped bottle with a tag attached for "Gozzini & Restelli"

Many thanks in advance

I think the duck and the bottle are Italian.
Somebody who knows more about Murano will probably confirm.
But I think the cat is made in "murano, italy" in China.

Could we ask you to post only one item per thread please, V.Missy?
Otherwise identifictions and conversations can get very confused.........

Will do - I know some boards don't like you making various posts and ask that you combine but I know for next time on this one

Thanks chopin-liszt

Well, the pictures didn't show well. The label on the green duck is from Fratelli Toso of Murano. The cat looks like it could be from China with a Murano label stuck on it.

Thank you for identifying the Fratelli duck Anita.

What don't the pictures show that needs to be seen? If you tell me I can upload some that do

Am I correct in dating this piece to the 60s?

There's lots of good advice and help on posting pics here.
Your links are a bit long and confusing, although I did get to see things, I had to download things and got in a bit of a tangle. (technosaurus myself)

I tried to put the photos in so you could see them here and it wouldn't work although it has done previously for me. Perhaps they are bigger than the techie tip suggests. I will try condensing them next time. Thanks

The problem is with the image storing service you are using. The links are forcing some people to download the images rather than viewing them in a browser as is preferable. I've tweaked your post coding to show smaller versions of each image in your post, but for future posts please use the attach image feature of the board rather than the file storage you are currently using, so it doesn't cause people problems when trying to help you. Thanks. :)

I did try the image feature but it only showed links in my post preview so I guess I have another problem there - perhaps file size. But next time I will make the photos small and insert them instead

Thanks everyone
