No signature or sticker on this. Measures about 3 1/2" tall. If possible would like to know maker and age. Thanks you.

I'm clueless, it's fabulous, I want it.
And I don't like millifiori or pwts.
I'm not sure this shouldn't be in Glass rather than weights,  :spls:  I reckon this is an art sculpture, not a weight.

The canes are complex. This is something very good.

Oh dear - no, I :pb: think you need folk who understand canes for help - I was just going off on one of my mental tangents - I like it so-ooooooo much, I don't want it to be a pooey (IMNSHO) pwt.!

If a post needs moved, one of our lovely moderators will sort it.

[Mod (KevinH): Ooops - I managed to delete jenndk's post saying "Sorry if I posted in the wrong place". Sorry to readers who got confused by this.]

It was made on Murano, Italy. I am unsure of maker but would place it around 1950'ies.

Hope this helps.

Within the paperweight collecting arena there is a category called "related objects" and this Murano weight on a pedestal definitely falls into that category.

Other items like this - a weight on a pedestal or other support - are known. But this is the first time I have seen what looks like a purposely designed mushroom, complete with a striped stalk.

Would you say it is definately Murano? How old would you guess?

Yes, in my view it's definitely a Murano weight.

The colours and form of the canes are very typical (and I personally hate the "sickly" shade of orange and yellows used). As far as I know, those canes are not regularly found in other maker's weights - unlike the many modern Moretti canes which are sold worldwide.

As for date, or maker, I am never sure about most Murano pieces. But 1950s, or a bit earlier, could be right.

I think this type of paperweight is called a Piedouche - referrring to the weight being on a small supporting column.  Some columns are very plain (see my photos of a Richard Wetzel(US) floral one and look at http://www.weights-n-things.com/en/modern-paperweights/europe/st-louis/concentric-millefiori-piedouche-1954.html for a very fancy one indeed.

I think your Pwt is spectacular     and I would love to have found it.
