Ice cream for the heat wave? ID = Ravenhead Topaz
« on: September 29, 2011, 07:24:37 PM »
Not one to usually get excited about tableware but this little ice cream bowl really looked like it should be something but as far as I can find it isn't.

It has a lovely look to it. Well designed and it is intended to look and feel good in the hand.
It seems to be pressed. Unusually the footing design is asymetric.

It's an ice cream bowl so you can get an idea of the size but for those that can't it's about 2" high and 3 1/2 across (sorry, can't guestimate cm)

It is 257g or 9 1/8oz

I only have 2 so if you're planning to bring ice cream, please make sure I'm not double booked :sun:

I have a very large one of those bowls and it weighs a ton.  I was told it was designed by John Clappison for Ravenhead glass - I haven't managed to corroborate that yet though, so it's just a suggestion for now.

ah, and there is one on ebay ...
someone else trying to ID same on another forum.

Seems to be some consensus on John Clappison but only suggested/wishful thinking. This one looks a bit more assured as it is boxed - but no lid?

I usually think of Ravenhead with lower end stuff. These look a bit better than the usual.

I think people underrate Ravenhead y'know,  I really like the things I've got made by them. If you get that lovely set scavo, we can all come round for ice cream, and I'll bring a couple of 'Lotus' bowls for the candles....could be quite a party!!

Granted only online but there seems to be no contesting it. But I guess disinformation can go viral.
