Robert HELD (PW) Dome Weight ????
« on: October 02, 2011, 11:41:58 AM »
 :hi: there:

I found this today at that same Indoor Flea Market...but a bit ???? on it.

It is signed on the Bottom with R. Held Art Glass.  The writing looks right on what I could find, BUT I have not found a Egg shaped (dome)  PW on the Net (yet) of Robert Held.  Found some round PW, but not this shape.  Also, there is *only* some iridescent swirls in it.   I kinda thought that Robert Held worked more in iridescent colors.  So I would like to know if anyone can give me any views, thoughts, or input on this.  Again, from what I could find on his signature being written -- it looks right -- but still a little ???

This is about 3 inches high, and I got for only $ 5 ...........    :X:       ........Thanks  :kissy:

Hi  KevinH:

I received the following Reply today from that link of ROBERT HELD:

If it is signed I'm sure it's one of our paperweights.
It's probably an older, discontinued style.

Robert has been making paperweights for well over 20 years so many of the
designs are no longer being made.
The pieces shown on our website are just the ones that are currently in
production.

That was a quick response, so it may appear that I have an older PW from Robert Held, possibility.... :X:  .....and I also want to Thank his Office for Reply to me.

I always think it is SO nice when Glass-makers take the time to answer our questions!!  That is just so really nice to do that as they probably get lots of questions asking about prices, or *free* appraisals and stuff vie e-mails......that they are bugged to reply to due to a Internet world now.  So to being given a Reply personally -- just always touches my Heart!!  So a big Thank you to them for doing that!!!

Here is the Second reply I received from his store:

Hi,

Yes Robert has made egg-shaped paperweights, we just don't have any in our
current line.

The particular one you have must be quite old as no-one here is familiar
with it. It could be from a very old line or it could be a one-of-a-kind
piece or a prototype.
We have no way of knowing.

I hope you enjoy it.

Regards,
Jem

Just letting you know about this second reply.  I am so Thankful that they take the time to try to answer our Questions.     Hugs to them!!

I think I am having a Monologue here with myself,oh well ..............but here is my 3rd Reply from their office.

:chky: :chky: :chky: :chky:  Confirmed ID!!  It is true older Robert Held PW, and Mr. Robert Held himself confirmed it.  I am *Honored*!!

Hello,

I showed the pictures to Robert and he confirmed that it is one of his
pieces.
The signature has evolved many times over the years that Robert has been
in business and there is no reason to believe that anyone would forge
Robert Held's signature on any glass piece.
Skookum Art glass is the name of Robert Held's previous company in Calgary.

Your paperweight is at least 10 years old; there were not many made like
it so you are lucky to have it.

Other than that there is nothing else we can tell you about it.

A Big Thank you to his Office, and also to Mr. Held Personally.

Thank you!!       You made a Rainy day here very Bright!!
