Have you seen this cat anywhere?
« on: September 16, 2011, 03:57:00 PM »
Hi,
I have just purchased this lovely cat paper weight. There are no markings on the glass block. The block is about 2 inches high, by 3 inches long and 1 inch thick. The back is smooth. I could swear I have seen this cat design somewhere else before. I could not find anything remotely like it online. Anyone?

Thank you!

I'm thinking Iittala, Jorma Vennola,  but,  it isn't the one I usually associate with him,  so I will do some hunting for you,  have you tried Swiss glass Hergiswil?  Worth looking through their website and it is a good hour of glass fun even if yours isn't there. They do a cow one and yours reminds me of that!!

Still no luck! I am sure I have seen it somewhere...at least the design of the cat, maybe not on glass. In my mind this is a "famous" design...thanks for your help so far!

It is famous, I've seen it too.....we'll get to the bottom of it, don't worry......I don't give up easily, and I 'do' cats. :sun:

I'm beginning to wonder if I was thinking of the Ciccia cat?

Hmm, it looks a bit like an ice block but no idea on who may have made it.  I will keep my eyes peeled in case I come accross something like it.

I know this isn't it, but sometimes a 'process of elimination' helps and this is also an interesting site:

My 2 cents worth...

I think (maybe) you might also be thinking of the (ceramic) Scaried Cat Image by SlyvaC.  As is this the *image* you are referring too??

*ceramic item (image)  posted ONLY as a reference here for the post

Is that the *image* that you were just thinking about -- even though that image/design is Ceramic?  And in turn could be re-designed into Glass, or kinda just another take on the image -- but in Glass?

When I looked at your Glass Block -- I felt too that it looked like the SlyvaC Cat....which I think is quite a famous design.  As you stated you thought you seen the image before 'maybe not on glass' too.  So IMHO, that is where I have seen this image before --- IF we are thinking on the same lines.
