3 pieces Monart for sale, including two miniatures
« on: October 09, 2011, 07:45:24 PM »
For sale are three nice pieces of Monart glass, made by the Ysarts in Scotland, to be sold as a group (one lot).  Using the standard work "Ysart Glass" by Andrews, etc., as a reference, here are their despriptions: 1) The largest piece is a shape V vase, 7 1/2 inches high and 2 3/8 inches across the mouth, shown on page 169 (in the catalog).  Colors: orange (a lighter orange) bottom shades to a lighter brown center shades to a darker cocoa brown upper.  Typical Ysart pontil on base.  Mouth of this piece is perhaps slightly narrower than the example shown in the catalog on p. 169.  Coloring is similar to #13, p. 53 but darker and without aventurine, or #19, p. 57 but orange is not as red.  2) Shape MB - X miniature bowl, shape as shown on p. 71, plate 50.  Approximately 4 1/4 inches wide by 2 3/8 inches high.  Colors: light orange with a few yellow spatters lower, upper is overlaid with brown into the orange.  This piece is a close, but not exact, match for the above shape V vase.  Similar pieces are again p. 53, plate 13 (very similar, but with no aventurine, top is just a bit darker), and p. 57, plate 19 but just a bit lighter and the bottom is yellower.  Tiny pontil mark has been ground slightly inwards and polished.  3) Pin dish, as shown on p. 71, plate 53.  Approximately 3 1/2 inches in maximum width and about 1 1/4 inch tall.  Colors: upper is a dark lavender purple which shades to a pink lower, with a fine off-white netting and tiny bubbles throughout.  Typical Ysart pontil on base.  Condition: all pieces are in excellent condition.  Asking $300 for all three pieces, reasonable offers will be entertained.  Please e-mail me directly with questions or for photos, which are available and can be e-mailed.   Thanks for looking.   :)
