This is a beautiful vase which I got from my father and I have never been able to find out what it is. I thought it looked a bit like some Lava glass I have seen but can't be certain. The vase is 7.25 inches tall and the decoration looks as though the colours have run. The base is smooth and slightly concave.

Please would you explain what you mean by 'lava glass'?
http://www.lavaglass.co.nz/

Also when and where did your father aquire this glass?

It reminds me of glass which is made in America but externally decorated by painting but the colours on yours seem integral.

Also there is some glass made which incorporates ash from volcanos.

So you see that the more you can tell, the better!!!
There are some very expert people contributing to this board so
good luck, Ruth

It reminds me somewhat of Reuven/Rueven glass.

Thank you both for your useful information. I have e-mailed my father to find out more detail about its purchase and provenance and will share this if and when it arrives. Meanwhile, my search continues with help along the way.
Thanks
ronnie

Ilanit acid decorated glass from Israel, on factory blanks imported from France or Italy.
