I found one :-). Caithness Salome vase
« on: October 12, 2011, 12:36:00 PM »
I am really pleased with this find - especially after Sue showing me hers earlier this year on here  ;D

Large size Salome vase.

Gorgeous green interior, and lovely iridized effect to lower 1/4 of vase.

28 cm or 11 inches tall

Unusual cut and polished rim.

I like it  :)

You just had to get one bigger and better than mine, didn't you? (hoity-tioty sniff).. Well, I hope you're happy with yourself, now you've made me turn as green as the interior.........

:smg: Yay - I'm really pleased for you!  :smg:

They're gorgeous and really rather complex. The polished rim is normal though.  :sm:

Yours is a nicer shape than mine - I dribbled over one like yours in the Exhibition I saw in Perth.  :smg:

Thanks Sue

Not really one upmanship - just the only one I have ever seen for sale - so had to have it!

And I am now dribbling over this one on exhibition in Perth (in Western Australia that is)  ;D

Glad the cut and polished rim is usual for this vase - but unusual for Caithness generally I think??

Thanks Sue

lovely bowl - saw it matched my other cut and polished rim vase in an earlier post. Other than these two I have now checked my other Caithness vases and bowls, and find that many of them have cut and polished rims - a Starry night bowl, all of the Cadenza range, the Ebony range, and also even one of the later barrel vases I have from the Images range. All of course as you say the thickly cased items - makes sense when I think about it!

I had never noticed before.  :-[
