Bird/Dove Paperweight? Maker? Age?
« on: October 10, 2011, 07:36:32 PM »
First of all... would this be considered a paperweight? It is cobalt blue with gold. No signature or label. Any idea of maker? Age? Would you all agree it is a dove? A paperweight? Measures 5 1/2" wide X 4" tall.

5½ x 4 inch seems a bit big for a paperweight bird. But if it was made or marketed by the maker / company as a paperweight, then that is what it is.

As for a maker, I have little knowledge of this type of item, so will await the veiws of others. But the way the tail is formed certainly looks similar to other birds that have been discussed in the Board. I don't recall seeing that particular colouring before.

Does anyone think it is Murano?

I would say definitely Murano. The shape of the bird looks like Galliano Ferro, but I haven't seen this specific bird so can't say for sure. The nub bill, slight head turn, and fat wings are seen in many GF birds. GF and Ferro Italarts did a good bit of filament work similar to this, so it is possibly theirs. (I don't know the relationship between GF and Ferro Italarts, but wonder if they are the same company.)
