Pulled Feather perfume - no marks or label. Who made it?
« on: October 13, 2011, 01:38:56 PM »
This rather neat pulled-feather perfume (minus the stopper - of course) has no marking or labels.  It is very well made and has good weight.  It is unlikely to be from USA - they most often mark well, nor is it likely to be Australian - very few do surface treatment and most of those works I know well.  It is much too solid for the usual cheap Eastern imports we see here so I suspect it is from someone like IOW Glass - which by the way was mentioned by the British seller - but I feel sure it is not their's, although I have not checked by emailling them.

Anyone able to give me a starting point?

Hi Ross

I have an IOW SG Summer fruits Blackberry perfume bottle from about 1993 which looks to be the same shape. Stopper is round. The  whole thing is 5 inches or approx 13 cm high  - so without stopper is 4 inches  or 10 cm.

How does yours compare for size?

cannot post a picture just now - it is on my laptop so will try and show it tomorrow.
regards

That's not Isle of Wight Studio Glass. I don't know what it is, but I'm pretty positive it's not IoW.
It is definitely not one of their ranges, it really doesn't look as if it comes under the category of trials or specials or as if it's an artist's (other than Tim) own design - it looks much more as if it's one of a range by somebody else.

Sanders and Wallace do a similar pulled design and bizzarely I picked up on of their vases today in my friend's shop and it wasn't signed.  I did think they always signed and I don't think the colouring is right for them, but it's a possible to explore perhaps.

I don't think it will be Robert Held - all three of my pieces are engraved with Held or R Held.  However depending on the response from Okra I will try him if it is negative.
