Some people say these were first made in the 1930's, in imitation of the antique French millefiori weights, but others say they continued to be made long after that.
Although some people around here seem to think I'm a bit of an expert on Chinese weights    I have to admit I really don't know!
I think the brighter colours indicate later weights. The very early '30's ones, although made in the typical Chinese colours of primary red, orange, yellow, blue and green, tend to be in slightly more subdued shades.
I think  :?
