Small gold aventurine vase by Seguso?
« on: October 18, 2011, 09:43:00 PM »
Hello everyone,

I recently purchased this little vase, which stands just over 5 inches or 13cm in height and am curious if anyone may have any thoughts on who the maker might be?

The person who I bought it from said they were certain it was made by Seguso.

Haven't seen anything like it in any of the searches I have done, so am looking for some input from you well informed folks.

Thanks in advance,

rob

That might well be - could also be Salviati, but in any case top Venetian.

BTW it is gold leaf, not aventurine.

Nice piece.

Thanks Ivo, that's great news!

And thanks for clarifying about the gold leaf.

Looks like a good piece. Good find. Love the shape of it. Can't help with the make of it, but Seguso does come to mind when looking at it. But other possibilities should be considered.

The colouring certainly looks about right for 1940s Seguso. But, as others have iterated, other factories may have produced similar wares.
