First Post - need some help to identify - Miroslav Klinger ?
« on: October 23, 2011, 03:15:23 PM »
Hi Everyone,

First post on Glass Messages !!

Found the two glass vases at a antiques market in Germany whilst on holiday - thought at first they might be Scandinavian (Orrefors ??) but colour and shape and a bit of internet digging suggest they might by Czech, Miroslav klinger

Can anyone help

Yellow Vase appears to have a monogram - looks like ZM ??

Hi and welcome to the GMB!

Pics of the whole vases might help in ID :), but as far as I can see they both look like ZBS to me; if they were designed by Miloslav Klinger is a different story (not all ZBS pieces were designed by him).
The monogram ZM is possibly the signature of the engraver.

Thanks Michael

Are there any catalogues / design books available on ZBS to try and find out more ?

Hi Jon,

Though I'm unaware of any available ZBS design books, Jindrich, a highly knowledgable Czech glass enthusiast and researcher, has got a fabulous website which offers information on Czech glass designers, glassworks, schools, exhibitions, copies of the Czechoslovak Glass Review, catalogues... the list goes on and on:  http://www.cs-sklo.cz/

Also, Pamela offers a collection of catalogues, organized by country, on her Musterbuch site, which may be of interest, if not for your vases posted above, then for other pieces you may come across: http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/h2-glas-br-musterbuch-de-h2.26.0.html

I agree with Michael... photos of the whole vases would be useful. :hi:

Some of these basic ZBS shapes are today still being engraved, see for an example http://glass.cz/veselous/
