Very doubtful. Signoretto is a master glassblower - this vase is a simple form with a surface decoration mostly found on Roumanian glass, and no particular glass skills come into play.  I also douibt if anyone from Murano would sign 'Murano, Venezia'

What do other members say, I wonder

Incidentally, please try not to use allcaps which is the internet vrsion f shouting :-)

Thank you for  the response and sorry about the allcaps [I used them so I could read my own writing better]

I can only add that the seller indicated the piece was bought from an estate auction in Pennsylvania and the provenance was of having been bought by the owners in Venice itself

I am surprised  to how heavy it is

It was my post on that board as well

Then I found this thread and was looking for further input

BTW, as a practicing  pulmonologist i found the article about the  sputum collection glass piece very interesting

Mycobacterium Tuberculosis has been a very resilient nasty pest throughout the ages and has had a strong comeback with superresitance to  usual antibacterial agents

I also remeber nebulizer solution containers  for asthma attacks being of slender  bulbous glass shape when I was treated as a child in the early 60's

The same with hypodermic syringes etc; everything turned into plastic

Regards

Interesting that the photos of the signature are right at the bottom of the page. I wonder why?

Ivo's book is very revealing if the subject interests you.

Very true. This also features in my own research into Chance Bothers - they developed the very first all-glass, interchangeable syringe in 1947/8.

(Not quite :hj: as I'm still talking glass here! ;D )
