Is this murano?
« on: March 10, 2006, 05:55:20 AM »
Hi I was just wondering if anyone thinks this is murano & if they would have any idea of the era & maker.  It is a pale blue glass & the gold flowers look applied to the outside.  Any ideas would be great:-)

Not sure if Murano is right.

Moser (Bohemian / Czech) is often said to be the maker of blue opaline pieces with applied gilded decoration in this style. The "Great Glass" website shows several examples (small vases & pots) of the style and dates them to the 1880s.

I've not seen a bowl in this style before. How large (or small) is it?

My first thought was oriental, no second thought though.

I would say definitely not Murano, looks much more like Bohemian to me.

Nice piece, open salt probably made by Harrach or by Moser, nothing remotely Murano about it.

Ivo would you agree that it would be circa 1880?
