Blue Hand Made Crackle Glass Vase, polished pontil to base, 210mm high, 140mm across

I know there's many modern reproductions of this style but this one doesn't seem mass produced in any way?

hello Retro............a past comment from Lustrousstone on this subject was........"I think everybody did crackle glass!".      Which may well be true judging by the amount I see at boot sales and charity shops - and it appears in green/uranium/brown/clear/blue/teal.        In view of the ground/polished pontil depression, yours may well be a period piece - i.e. somewhere in the first half of the C20.         Try using the Board's search facility and you'll be surprised how often these pieces come up.   I must have seen many pieces in recent years and the first thing I do is look at the base for a mark or label  -  so far I have yet to find either.
I very much doubt that you will find the maker - sorry.

there was also a sort of pink champagne colour.         Most commonly found shapes seem to be vases and celeries, this uranium globe lamp base is the only example I've seen, and judging by the fittings I'd have thought somewhere from the 1930's.

 thanks for the info, I did think the pontil suggested a more cared for production of the item, I originally had it down as 30s/40s, it has some crude finishing around the rim but more a characteristic aspect than that of a mass produced repro,

You're probably right about when it was made. Stevens and Williams/Royal Brierley may be an option. Problem is it's not a very distinctive shape

It is a bit of a 'run of the mill' form, it's a nice simple asthetic piece for the right surroundings but nothing really idenitifiable about it

thought I'd sneak another piece  in - which although it has a 'from the mould type base', is again presumably genuine '30's - 40's in view of the intended use and the glow.       Something else I've not seen another example of, so possibly less common than the usual crackle glass shapes we see - shame there was only the one glass remaining.

since i looked through 290 pages of "crackle Glass" by Stan & Arlene Weitman I gave up on all things crackle in despair.

thanks for cheering us up Ivo   -   obviously, as a design feature it sounds as though it had a massive popularity earlier in the C20, especially for the 1920 - 40 period, so I suppose it should be treated as an iconic 'art deco' feature.
