Show & Tell Early Mdina Side Stripe
« on: December 06, 2011, 03:04:46 PM »
Thought this new acquisition deserved a showing, a current favourite of mine.

The size seemed interesting in comparison to other early side stripes, fairly wide example, measuring just under 7 inches wide and a touch over 5 inches tall.

Enjoy.

:hi: Sue, I had anticipated it being smaller until it arrived the other week, weighs the best part of a kilo!

I do like these earlier side stripes, particularly the colours, there's a marked difference in comparison to some of the later ones.

 ;D

Kind of like the time I thought I'd bought an odd wee perfume bottle thing - it weighed over 5lbs and was basically an unshaped crizzle stone!

I so much thought it was a wee perfume bottle I ignored it - but John (glassobsessed) pointed out to me it was possibly bigger than it might look. I'm glad I listened to him!

Lovely, I especially like the 'wide stance' your new one has Greg. ;D

Sue, I kind of wish now that you had not listened to me and that I had actually listened to me instead....

I kind of wished I'd listened to me, as I so nearly bid on the perfume bottle crizzle thingy

Was this crizzle bottle something that recently came up for sale...? Sounds intriguing, if you have any photos Sue, would love to see it some time

Thanks for the picture Sue, a great item, I bet it sits nicely next to your crizzle stone.

Is it fairly tall? Difficult to gauge the height, 5lb+ in weight is pretty substantial.

It's nearly 9" tall, Greg.
It arrived draped in one bit of deflated, grubby bubble-wrap, rattling around inside a cafetiere box slightly under 10" tall, and made of card slightly too thin for a decent birthday card. How it got here in one piece is beyond me.
