Isle of Wight Studio Glass - Meadow Garden Lollipop vase query
« on: December 06, 2011, 01:18:41 PM »
The first query is were these ever in production?  It looks like Meadow Garden to me, but there were no lollipop vases in the range (according to my reading of Mark Hill's book)

It is definitely a Lollipop vase - almost exactly the same shape and size as a pink Azurene one I have. 6 inches tall, 4 3/4 inches diameter. Has the standard 80's triangular label on it.
Neither the label nor the vase shows any signs of wear - must have been kept packed up somewhere - I do not think it has had any use whatsoever.

And I cannot find that it fits any of the known Meadow Garden colour ranges.
It is a white background, with teal blue, lavender and white spots, The trails are a greyish lavender, and a goldy green - like an unripe lemon.
It has a very very slight iridescence.

I'm stumped?  Any ideas anyone? A one off? a trial run?   What is it?
Thanks

It's not Meadow Garden.
It's "Pine" Kyoto.  :smg: :smg: :smg:

Well I'll go to the foot of our stairs!

Thank you Sue - a nice find then  ;D

Never even thought of Kyoto - and I do have a couple of small pieces, 2 cherry and 1 pine  - but they are currently packed away.

But no coloured rim? that would have told me immediately it was Kyoto - I suppose it would have looked a little out of place on a lollipop vase!

Thanks again
NB : If appropriate would a mod please change the title to show ID as  Kyoto rather than Meadow Garden.
Thanks

The Kyoto lollipops are distinctive in not having the coloured rim - it just wouldn't be practical given the heat-finish they do have. (and it would probably look.... very silly ;D)

Yup, a very good find! :smg:
