Timo Sarpaneva Orchid 3568
« on: December 13, 2011, 06:34:43 PM »
Picked up this Timo Sarpaneva Orkidea / Orchid Vase today.

I cant get a good photo of the base but it's signed "Timo Sarpaneva 3568"

The example on design lasi is listed under a differant number
http://www.designlasi.com/en/content/orkidea-orchid-3868-sarpaneva-timo-en

Does anybody know if the "3568" is a production number or a catalogue / pattern number ?

Many Thanks

Not completely sure, however, I thought 3568 was the production number.

This design was originally produced in 52 and is still produced today, from memory I think it also comes in a number of sizes.

It looks as if there was two production runs. The first in '52 and a second run in the 80's. According to the Iittala website it is no longer in production but does not state when it ended.

EDIT: Just checked the website again & it looks as if it IS still in production but will be discontinued from Dec 31st 2011
