Handkerchief Vase?
« on: January 13, 2012, 11:50:09 PM »
I got this recently at an estate sale and am hoping someone can tell me what country it comes from. It is almost 13 inches tall, 8 inches across the top and 4 1/2 inches across the bottom. I have looked at lots of these vases but can't find one like this one. Thanks for any help.

Showed the vase to my neighbor who wants to buy it from me, but I'm hoping to find out if it could be murano or just chinese. Hope to hear from someone with some information before I sell it to her. Thanks.

It seemsynlikely that it is Chinese to me as the polishing of the base as opposed to simply grinding it flat would be unlikely for a piece of this quality.  So I would plump for a Murano maker, BUT.  It could perhaps be Eastern Europ- Polish, for instance, and I am not expert enough to recognise a style.

Thanks for your input. I have looked at lots of vases. Some that claim to be murano look like mine on the bottom, but can not find one with the same base as picture #2. Maybe I'll keep it for now since I only paid $10.00 for it.
