Please help identify this vase - ID = Dartington
« on: January 20, 2012, 12:33:51 PM »
I found this at a bootfair last year & thought it looked so stylish, I had to have it. The marks to the base are really clear & I thought it would be a simple job discovering who it is by. Three hours later & I'm giving up the will to live! My biggest problem is I don't know how to phrase my search properly. Can any kind soul give me a hand please?

I think this is the Dartington Glass Victorian range.

It certainly does look as if it might be - but was Victorian not one of the ranges produced by the short-lived Dartington Studio?

I'm afraid I lost interest in the Studio stuff when they did the Victorian, not my taste, so I never bought any, and Victorian was the last range they did. I had been hopeful they'd carry on and do more.

The mark on the base is not that of Dartington Studio, which is an illustration of two blow-pipes with a blob of glass on their ends.

Or am I being ignorant about other Dartington ranges......... ?  :spls:

It is the florabundance Lily range designed for the V&A. I have had my brolly in it by the front door :-[

Sounds like a practical solution for a dripping brolly... Quite big then at 35cm.

Dartington Crystal then rather than Dartington Studio (or Dartington Glass).

It's current Studio stuff is called Innovate.

Glass is a diverse and fascinating subject, Franlow.... are you getting hooked yet?

Perhaps you should put something soft in the bottom of your vase to prevent your umbrolly marking the base - even if it's just some kitchen roll or bubblewrap - unless you can think of something more aesthetic which would serve the same purpose. I think this is a great use for it! It is to be enjoyed.
