Anne — Your 4" fitting plinth is a No. 1.

Fully matted plinths were usually supplied with "D"ed sets, in this size most likely 1910MD or S696MD, although, as Chris pointed out, all over matted purple cloud sets look stunning but are unusual.

If you look or feel carefully on the underside, you may be able to detect a relief inscription.

Thank you Bernard :P   I've been unable to detect any markings but that's not to say there aren't any, just that I'm a bit clack-handed and my eyesight is far from perfect.  I'll get my daughter to check it out.  Her musician's hands and fingers are far more sensitive than my 'bunch of sausages! ' :lol:
