New IOW buys
« on: January 20, 2012, 03:49:42 PM »
Bought the other day - just delivered - Isle of Wight axehead or fish vase with reds, browns, silver and iridescant bands.

Matching paperweight.

Both with flame pontil - any idea of date and design range name - I must get a good IOW book.

Lovely early Lollipop vase, Adam.

No name for this colour range - but it's quite like aurene. Nice that your pwt. matches it!

There are no axeheads, not anywhere, not ever in Harris glass. This was an term invented to try to describe Fish vases, before the proper and official name was known.
Since the correct name, FISH, has been known, folk are trying to eradicate this reference to weaponry from the Harris Glass Lexicon.
