Scottish Paperweight?
« on: January 23, 2012, 12:22:41 PM »
No markings to base of this one - 3" diam - amber coating to inner with many canes around base - green reeds up two sides, white lillies up the other

Could it be Caithness but unmarked?

I doubt Caithness very much. :spls:

However, it's rather lovely and it does have some features in common with one of the the weights Mike Hunter (Twists Glass) made at the Edinburgh conference.

I think he might be worth investigating as your starting point.

I cannot find it in my Caithness documentation - but it reminds me a bit of Summer Pool (Colin Terris, 1985).
Another Colin Terris design (2000) is Millefiori Pool - combining millefiori with a similar flower.

Could it be by Norman Stuart Clarke?

I have one signed by him that has similar design, especially the green reeds and other colours used.   Unfortunately it's packed away to move house, so can't post a photo or make a detailed comparison.

Packing 400 weights to move house requires several miles of bubble wrap!  And strong packing crates (and strong people to lift them)!
