Hello all.

Does anyonme recognise the maker of this set please/  it is very thick solid glass and is big diamond point with a row of Hobstars across the tray and all the other pieces have a hobstar on them somewhere.  Really stunning and lights up a treat under UV light.  it looks similar to some Sowerby ones but I cannot find it in their catalogues I have on disk

Thanks  Markus

Christine and I discussed these a while ago and we think it's Sowerby: http://www.20thcenturyglass.com/glass_encyclopedia/glass_catalogues/sowerbyglass_catalogues/sowerbyglass_catalogue_list39-12.htm - our suspicion is that the pattern was amended slightly from the catalogue drawings. We've not seen the version shown in the catalogue yet.

Thanks for that and it looks like its just the tray that has been amended.  There is one hobstar o the front of the candlesticks and that looks the same.  It is a big heavy set.

All the best.  Markus

They are seriously chunky Markus!  I have pieces in clear and in uranium green (the latter courtesy of Christine), and I've seen examples in pink and blue, but so far none in amber. They come in frosted and plain colours, and there are two style of pot: one with a finial and one without.
