Scramble - NEGC, Boston Sandwich or ???
« on: February 03, 2012, 08:37:34 PM »
My novice opinion (more like guess) is this pwt is by Boston Sandwich, mostly based on shape and preponderance of white, with plenty of peppermint red and green colors.  Colors are best represented in the detail photos. Base is polished & concave. Size is approx 2.5" in diameter by 1.5" in height. Appreciate any and all feedback including estimate of age. Thanks.

I believe your scramble is by the New England glass Company (NEGC).  I am one of those who believe that B&S never made a scramble since there are no known B&S Millefiori paperweights.

However, there are experts who disagree with this opinion and have identified scrambles having the same specific gravity as known B&S weights.

Regards,

Allan

Thanks Allan, I was initially thinking NEGC myself, but reread Hollister and thought the description of B&S scrambles was more applicable. I did think it curious that I couldn't find examples of B&S scrambles in my internet searches...makes logical sense now...
