Walther & Sohne LUXOR or another name?
« on: February 06, 2012, 11:24:22 AM »
Hello all.  i was showing someone some Walther Glass yesterday and they queried a vase that I have always thought was the LUXOR pattern.  Having been told to check out Pamela's Pressglas site I see that her version of the Luxor is completely different to mine.  Can anyone confirm that both versions are the same pattern or parhaps mine with the castellations is a differtent name?  It's a big vase...20cm x 14 across the top .  Thanks all for your help.  Markus

Looks good to me. Most ranges had all sorts of variations.

The base of the known Luxor vase seems to be different: http://www.flickr.com/photos/glassholic/5411852230/in/set-72157625963973876
Less high and wider

P.S: mine is a Luxval and not W&S vase  :o

I found this vase at the Salvation Army shop yesterday it appears to be another variation on the Luxor vase. The base is actually leaves...any idea who might have made this one please?

Angela, I picked up this topic from a search as I spotted one of these vases in our local charity shop yesterday and it rang a dim bell. I didn't buy it but made notes so I could check it out when I came home.  Like yours it had the Luxor top but leaves at the bottom. There were three swag panels (for want of a better term) and it stands about 10" tall.  I was tempted to buy it for reference but am struggling for space for at the moment, and as it's already here on the board I feel less guilty about not buying it! ;)
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd
