Hi Deb,

First of all, congratulations on finding such a lovely set! I rarely get excited about trinket sets, but yours is a fantastic design and looks to be very good quality. I have seen the tray before, but never a complete set. I'm sure Pamela used to have an example of this tray on her site listed as unidentified, but I can't seem to find it now...

Regarding maker, I would think it's probably not by Jobling. It's not shown in the Jobling catalogues, nor in any of the Jobling adverts I've seen to date. That in itself isn't entirely conclusive though as there are several designs which are now known to be Jobling which weren't feature in their trade catalogues.

Like Anne, I thought Reich was a strong possibility when I saw this set. The colour, finishing and general look of quality is consistent with their better pressed items. I don't any complete Reich catalogues to compare with though, however, I believe the 1936 Reich catalogue is available from Siegmar Geiselberger at www.pressglas-korrespondenz.de He has always been very helpful when I've made enquiries in the past.

Another possibility could be Schweig Müller. I'm not really familiar with their output, and don't have any catalogues, but it might be worth seeing what you can find. I think it's likely your set is continental rather than British.

Steven

I agree with Stephen that Schweig Müller is a strong possiblity: they were very good with flowers, the green is a good colour match; they quite liked part frosting and their stuff is not so common over here, or indeed anywhere. None of these are definitive of course

Experience teaches that anyone who begins to collect in any field can feel a change in his soul. He becomes a joyful man filled with a deeper empathy, and a more open understanding moves his soul.

Hi Deblam, lovely set, I have the same set in Pink, which I also queried a while back in this thread but have still had no luck tracing it.

A couple more things to add to this Mystery.

A few months back I bought the same set in Uranium, it was listed as "Stolzle Hermannshutte". I asked the seller how she knew this, and she replied that the dealer she had purchased it from had told her the name and she wrote it down because she has never heard of it before. I don't know if this is relevant at all.

The second thing is that I have seen the same set online recently but with a completely different pattern on all the pieces. The tray has 6 rounded open flowers with a double row of petals arranged equally around the tray, and interspersed with round berries on stems with small leaves. I'm kicking myself for not linking it at the time, although I did save myself a reference copy of the pics.

On the basis on shade of green (too yellow) and the use of flowers rather than geometrics I would say no. But that is just a gut reaction

The tray has 6 rounded open flowers
That should say 8 flowers.

Yes I did take the Stolzle attribution with a bit of a pinch of salt, but I thought I'd add the info here just in case.
