Maria Stáhlíková vase
« on: February 07, 2012, 11:46:33 PM »
Just wanted to share this pic I took of this fab Maria Stáhlíková vase.
I've had it on my shelf for about 3 or 4 years. Bought it from a flea market for tenner, it's slightly damaged on the inside but I didn't care, it screamed quality so I had to have it lol.
Only found out earlier today who made it when I was browsing through the Glasrevue's on Jindřich's website. Jindřich, thank you soooo much!!

Dan

Dan,

Fabulous piece. A tenner?  I'm a big Stahlikova fan and I've never seen this before.  What year is it?

Hi Dan, that's a very interesting item, though I admit, I don't recognise it. Can you give us a link to J's site, where you found it, please?  And also, can you post more photos of it from different views?

A really lovely piece to have... thank you for sharing with us. :)

Thank you for the link Michael... You've either got an incredible memory, or the most perfect notes.  :)

;D No need to be impressed -- in this article about Maria Stahlikova I found my engraved Expo 58 dish (so I really know it by heart)

BTW: I would be much more jealous if I hadn't bought a very nice Stahlikova vase yesterday :rah:

An excellent and scarce piece. Like Rocco's rare pieces, this was probably blown at Skrdlovice and then cut at the UR Prague cutting shop, probably for an international exhibition or similar event, certainly not a normal production pattern, the colours suggest a Skrdlovice blank to me,

Cheers and thanks for the additional info Robert.
At first, I thought some amateur had had a go at cut the vase as the two groves down the side are a little rough and the surface has an odd, almost matte finish. Nevertheless, I love the colours.

On the link Rocco posted, the vase on the bottom right is another vase I love. I saw one at an auction a few years ago and still wish I had carried on bidding for it, I didn't know what it was at the time but the simple shape and colours were pretty mesmerising.

and for you, Anik ;-)

Dan, thanks for the additional pics! -- Really lovely vase.

And thanks for sharing your great glass collection on flickr -- it is a joy to browse through it (and such a good source of reference)
