Can anyone educate me about Schwepnitz glass?
« on: February 04, 2012, 05:50:40 PM »
I found a lovely Pink serving piece with a grape leaf motif yesterday, I don't have pictures but I have ID'd it as Weinlaub by Schwepnitz
http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/Schwepnitz-1936.131.0.html

I'm wondering if anyone can educate me a little about this manufacturer. I'm assuming they were German, but then Austria has a similar language.

Would love to learn. And yay for having a new piece to add to my European Glass collection!

Ivo's glass fact a-z gives some info., part of which states ...

German, started 1936, originally Glasfabrik Horst Walter GmbH; became VEB Glaswerk Schwepnitz in 1951; then various name changes within VEB over the years.
