A primitive bird design on a blue vase with a Viking feel?

I don't seem to be getting very far on my own!

The bird reminds me of an Oiva Toikka Bird for Nuutajarvi of Finland, but I cannot find anything to substantiate this.
I am really curious, so I will watch this post with bated breath.

Actualy it looks more like the KB piece on page 46 of Nigel's Glass of the 50s and 60s.

:?: I can see no similarity there apart from the colour. The stopper on the KB one has metal, and the shape is different, being squared off at the corners. :?:

the birdy bottle is squared off at the sides and has ttbomk no stopper, the mould detail is much better than the bottle green (Italian, Austrian?) one, the colour is darker and the glass thicker than comparable items made in Empoli.....

Are you saying that these two decanters are not very similar Ivo?

The 'birdy one' does have a stopper...

I feel like I'm losing my marbles! :lol:

When I say 'squared off' I mean that the bottom corners curve upwards (are rounded) on these two, whereas the KB ones are squarer.

(apologies to Jonnybrum and Jay, whose images I've altered slightly)

....I think I'll give up. I feel like I'm going bonkers! :roll:

These seem to be very much alike - but there seem to be differences too. The ones with a stopper have rounded shoulders, the one without the stopper has a flat panel front back and sides. There is also a small variation in the design - look at the lower leaves on the flower stem. Maybe the production was tendered out, or production standards lowered? I give up too...

Could you post a picture Ivo? (I don't have this book)

I would be very surprised if Jay's bottle turned out to be from Gullaskruf, but I too will wait for Raoul's confirmation on this. As far as I know, KB did three different bottles for G-f (motifs: faces, drinking glasses and fish), and none of these had glass stoppers...
