Tutti Frutti ?? Venetian - Murano, Smokey Colored
« on: February 20, 2012, 06:25:48 PM »
:baby:  Hi, here is my *new* addition here to my glass family....

Is is Tutti Frutti (fruitti)?  Murano, AVEM, JI.CO, Venetian?  I have been looking around and can find lots of examples -- BUT can not find any examples that have a bottom like mine.  So confused??  The info is as follows:

~ Not black, kinda Smokey/purple/ or amethyst
~ About 7 inches wide
~ About 2 inches tall
~ Scalloped around the edges, with one edge fold over
~ Gold and Silver Flakes in it
~ Many colors
~ Good wear on base
~ Weight is about 2.4 pounds
~ Base is kinda like *bumpy* or *formed* -- or I do not what you call it.  Bumps are more like even type, not irregular

Any ideas on age // maker // or anything at all (even other examples with this kind of bottom).  Thanks

:ghug:

.....and So many on Ebay now state made by Dino Martens ...... LOL ...... So is mine, too???  LOL

Rose, we all see so many of these and I have another example which one day i will post.

But yours is good quality piece, the reflctions in the glass are interesting,
I would say AVEM, however, I am not sure,

good luck

Well many questions come to mind...

You are best searching JI Glass for this...IMO...due to your location. Definitely Murano though.

(I have edited this post before posting with ***....dear G i had too...rose...don't give me ammo...LOL)

I agree Murano and 50s to 70s - I have a few pieces which I bought on the off chance of being A.V.e.M and some of them are - here is one that is very similar to yours Rose and is not A.V.e.M - I have still to attribute a maker to this piece although I am sure it is Murano.

Thanks Adam

Thanks so much for the replies.

I will keep searching around too.  Just have not stumble on too many bowls with this type of *bumpy* bottom around the whole bottom sides.

Glad that we all feel/confirm it is Murano.  Maybe another will show up in time....one can only hope (and with a Label) LOL :X:

Thanks Again  :ghug:

Is there an argento technique? Argento just means silver.

From what i have found about it, Argento is the use of 925 silver inclusions and I have only found a reference to Gambaro and Poggi using it.

Also it seems to be from my understanding more generaly used with reference to using silver and the glass product, i.e. a silver framed mirror.

Knowing me i have got it muddled at best, but Dean it obviosly is a reference to silver work in or outside the item, you said

,
which appears to me you have used the term incorrectly.
