Signature help needed for Murano aquarium
« on: February 14, 2012, 12:41:27 AM »
Hi folks,

I'm hoping one of you glass aficionados recognise this signature! The bottle itself is 11 inches long and about 3 1/2 inches thick...the workmanship on the fish et al looks well done....my guess is Italian.....comments?

thank you in advance!

 :hi: Sid:

I just HAD to reply.  What a beautiful piece that is!!

I (IMHO) think it is Murano.  Thought it said something like Celine Murano --- But I think it *might* say ???  Cenedese.  Just really sloppy writing. I could be wrong -- and most times I am.....but it is an educated guess.  Never have seen a bottle one like that!

Very nice!!

I am looking around to see IF I can find something, but in the meantime I found Fishies in a lamp scone HERE .  Do they look like your fish  (in quality) ??

Cenedese signatures are usually longer and quite narrow but Murano looks right . imho .

I dislike aquariums normally but this is the best one I have ever seen. The fish are excellent.

Anita might have an idea who made it but it was certainly someone with  a lot of skill.
Clean and Crisp a Murano twist.
Archimede tops my list.

No idea, Ardy. I was hoping that Alex might chance along and recognize the signature. I don't know, but the "stopper" part of the bottle made me think it might be a more recent work. Could be wrong thinking this.

I'm sorry, but the signature says nothing to me.
Acttually there are 4-6 studios producing pieces like this one.
For sure is a pretty new piece. The fish is not made in the furnace (as in the old Cenedese), but it is lampworked. I suppose the fish was made by one of Tagliapietra's family, a family business of very good lampworkers.
In order to make these kind of acquariums, they provide to other furnaces these small fish with, often with silver leaf, pretty flat to be enclosed in the heavy hot crystal.

Ciao

I have a large Pino Signoretto fish-in bag and was wondering when it was made and is it a high dollar item since i read he is a master glass blower in Murano. It is signed by him but not dated.
