i didnt know who made it but the only 2 i found online said they were dino thats why i came on here. usually someone puts me right. its going on ebay as murano style bird at a low starting price then i cant be accused of ripping anyone off. still a nice bird whoever made it.
thanks for the input i still love this site and hope to help when i can.

Hi!
The book from Marc Heiremans with the title:
"DINO MARTENS"
Catalogue
Werkverzeichnis
Liste del Opere"
(Arnoldsche Art Publishers)
shows some similar items as yours (for example site 174).
So,
now I have to reverse my opinion and I will vote now:
the item is:
100% Muranese
0 % Chinese
Perhaps 30 % Dino Martens ?!
When I look at your pics, I see a mastership of glasswork!
Very good and nice item!

I checked the page. Nothing like your bird there, but I'm sure the Martens' birds are the ones the Chinese modeled theirs on. Yours is Chinese from a couple of years back. The Chinese glass makers change their lines every few years, so they are not made now. There are still plenty of them out there. They are often sold as Murano on eBay. The Chinese often class them as "Murano" in their catalogs, i.e. they are made in the style of Murano glass.

The Martens birds are very different. The bianco nero canes are true black and white, instead of purplish. The canes are applied to the outside of the glass, and not the inside as you see for the Chinese bird.

I am confident your bird is Chinese. No guessing was involved. Still pretty.

If you look in the market place below you will see what i know is a genuine Dino Martens bowl in the black and white ,this is unmistakable and has been verified by two of the top London dealers in Murano/Italian/Venetian glass and is in several books,
their was also an identical one at the Cambridge glassfair on Sunday .
You will clearly see the difference in the canework

Hello Anita.
I do not know weather you have an other book of Marc Heiremans.
What you are saying is not correct.
On side 174, Archives,
pic nr. A157, Model 5907 and 5909
you will find similar birds!
Most of the Dina Martens animals are footed,
but 5907 and 5909 seemed to be unfooted.

Lothar, these birds and similar animals are being found new in almost every UK "antique" centre...

when I look at your collection (album),
I have some doubts that your judgment is right.
Please look for example : to the eyes or how the beak was made....
that is mastership of glasswork
