7 ring clear Sheringham Wedgwood Candlestick
« on: February 27, 2012, 10:02:45 AM »
Further to an earlier topic ....

Just received this fabulous piece, courtesy of GMB member Carol in NZ who drove a long way to get it for me. It is stunning, and looks well with my pair of 5 ring clear ones.

Thanks Carol, I'd never have owned a 7 ring without you!

I owe you one !

Fantastic, these were expensive to buy when they were produced, it is made with 17 separate gathers and handmade sections - very skillful and labour intensive.

They are still expensive to buy - about $700 usually when I see them on Ebay. Carol got this for me at a very good price - a lot less than that  ;D

How very kind of Carol - a GMB gold star for her I reckon.

I don't know much about these pieces except from what I've picked up on the board.  They certainly look very tricky to make.  Did they ever go beyond the seven rings?

according to this site   http://ronaldstennettwillson.com they go up to 9 rings. Now wouldn't I like one of those!

An interesting site, not yet finished - but recently upgraded and looking good. !

Made as standard with 1, 2, 3, 5, 7 and 9 rings. I read (or heard) somewhere that a few 6 and 8 ring variations were made too, no doubt in very small numbers but I have no idea how accurate that information is.

I have a blue six ring, so I do know that 6 ring were made, but they were not a standard item. I have also bid in the past on a 4 ring but was not successful. Apart from 2 ring the even numbered ones are few and far between.
