Morven decanter but is this a Morven glass?
« on: March 26, 2012, 02:25:18 PM »
No problem identifying the decanter as Morven but I have had no luck with the glass (8cm tall), is it Morven too? The colour looks like Heather - it has quite a strong purple tint and does not look as brown as in these photos.

Have just ordered Mr Hill's book on Caithness but I am impatient....

I think so -  but I don't have Christine's book any more to confirm.

Maybe, though the colour does look wrong. Book says originally sold with slightly tapered cased tumblers (need size to confirm with 1972 catalogue). The post 1985 tumbler has a small flared foot.

Thanks Sue and Christine.

I will play with the white balance on the camera tomorrow and try and take a few accurate photos. The tumbler is 8cm tall and 8cm in diameter at the mouth (nice heft). Slightly tapering does seem to describe the shape and they are cased... ;D

Was rushing because my tea was ready; what I actually need is the volume in fluid ounces if possible

Five fluid ounces comfortably, a little more if you don't mind wearing some of it. :D

These are the glasses that came with mine.

Well....I have two glasses and they both hold a fraction over 6 fl oz if full to the brim. Which I guess is the definition of volume. ::)
