I think I'm in love!  Really!  I received this in the post today having found it on Ebid (first time I've bought anything from there).  And it's even better than I expected.

It is a lovely (mouthwash?) blue glass bust of a man, 1950s/60s style, on a clear glass base.  The base has 'rematitan' etched on the front and 'DENTAURUM' on the back.  A seam runs all the way round from one side of the base to the other.

It's very heavy although it appears to be hollow inside.

I've been on to the Dentaurum website which states 'The Dentaurum Group develops, manufactures and sells products for dentists and dental technicians worldwide.'  Rematitan is one of their products.  It is a family company based in Germany (actually, their website is very interesting).  So I am assuming these went out to their clients, maybe in their thousands?

Dimensions: 11cm(H) x 10cm(W)

I don't suppose anyone would know anything about who might have made this?  I think I'll email the company - they seem like a nice bunch!

Thanks for looking!
 ;D ;D ;D

Here's a view through the base.

Sorry - can't help - but from the thread title I was expecting something more modern  :P.

Gosh, it's like bringing your new boyfriend home who you're head-over-heels with and you family takes one look then turns away with an embarrassed shrug!  Surely he's not that bad!  Nobody just want to say Hi! to him?

He's rather beautiful.  I don't see him as 60s - As soon as I saw him I thought 'New Romantics' in an early 80's Spandau Ballet kind of way  ;D

Thank you Michelle! I see what you mean, a bit Tony Hadley-ish.  Chiselled features, square jaw, etc.  I'm really hoping that my enquiry to Dentaurum might get a response.

Apart from his good looks, I really love the colour and weight, and the overall design.

It is a beautiful thing, Nancy. :)
Wuff's succeeding in being far sharper in a second language than I am in my first, which is highly embarrassing.....

Thanks Sue.  Yes, I'm kind of kicking myself for not spotting the obvious before I posted.   :P
