Here is a lead that is promising:

catalogusnummer: 2166
Makas, vier schalen
met gegraveerde voorstellingen
[4]
l. 52 en 64 cm.
taxatie: € 60 - 100    opbrengst: € 140,00

Dutch auction house http://www.dezwaan-veilingen.nl/

Perhaps they know who the artist is, let us know if positive.

Frank,
That auctionhouse is where the items came from, and they don't know anything about Makas.
Nevertheless I will check again and let you all know if I find new data.
Thanks so far,
Willem.

Experience teaches that anyone who begins to collect in any field can feel a change in his soul. He becomes a joyful man filled with a deeper empathy, and a more open understanding of worldly things moves his soul.    (Alfred Lichtwark 1852 1914)

As the only hits on the artist are in Holland and you got yours here, it seems probable that he works here.

Next step would be contacting the various glass galleries. In the UK there is a Crafts Council register in which you can get details of most artists' and crafts people, is there a similar organisation here?

There is an incredibly well documented and immensely helpful lady at the ministry of culture who can tell you at the drop of a hat if the artist features in any of her lists. I just wish I had kept her telephone number....
