This is a striking clear blue balaster shaped vase with 3 pulled purple bosses on the shoulder. The base is not indented but the smooth polished pontil is just slightly. Hefty weight at just under 2 kilos. Cosiderable base rim wear. Height 26cms (10.25") x 19cms (7.5") across widest point. Love to know where it is from and approx age though I am guessing probably 60s/70s Thanks in advance for any help.

Pattern 8857 in the 1938 catalogue: http://www.whitefriars.com/catalogues/contents.php?id=1098

So would there be variations in decoration all falling under same pattern number?

Hi,
You can see the vase on page 124 Of Leslie Jackson Whitefriars Glass, Plate 113, (ii)
She has the pattern down as 8857 and as John says the number denotes the shape .

Nice vase and only the second I have seen. I used to own one.

Regards,
               Patrick.
