Please can someone tell me the maker of this crackle vase?
« on: February 25, 2006, 08:46:36 PM »
During a continuance of my clearout today, I found this lovely little amber coloured vase (amongst an awful lot of other things), but would love to know who the made it, and would be grateful for some help. It looks as if the coiled glass running around the top of this becomes a little glass hand, with thumb and little finger, when it reaches the bowl part.

It's got a strange pontil, which is really rough in places.

Err, I think it is a snake. Does not look like crackle to me, can you see light reflections in the cracks?

Do you mean does it look like rainbows in between? It does, at least to me, but they're only small sized crackles which look like little bubble shapes, which I never noticed until I put my glasses on, and it doesn't feel smooth on the outside.

You're right, with my glasses on it could be a snake.

It's about 4 3/4" tall, and might be a pen and pencil holder, not a vase.

Does any of this make sense?  :?

it doesn't look like crackle to me either. it looks like some sort of bubbled glass. It reminds me of some of the spanish stuff I've seen.

Looked again with the clarity of morning and bubbles it is. Possibly Egyptian or touristware from somewhere.

I agree this is bubble not crackle, and probably Egypt or Spain.
