Hiya!
I picked up a Fire Dance weight (a second, thick etched CIIG mark on the base) recently - went through Scotland's Glass to id it;
(13th image down, right hand side, not the most inspiring of things)

http://www.scotlandsglass.co.uk/cms/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=155&Itemid=6

But I note that it's not a very good image of the weight, I'm sure I could do a better one; and I also noted that the weight pictured on the site does not appear to have a band of sideways-on-hearts or leaves etched all around its base - mine does.
I don't have pics yet. Does anybody want me to do some?
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

Unfriendly software

Hi Sue,

I had written a lengthy explanation on several aspects of your posting, including (amongst other info) a direct link to the weight in question, and an attachment - which was refused as too large (129 kB): well, I could have checked that prior to posting - but the penalty was that my entire text was gone  >:( .... and I am not going to retype it: could someone, please, have a look at this user unfriendly behaviour of the software - and possibly fix it  ::)?

That's always happened. If you go back a page when it happens, you can copy and then paste the text into a new reply

Now I had trouble finding it again! At 50 images per page, it's now on p 15.
(it was on 12 before, I'm sure!)

Thank you for your efforts, Wolf.  ;)

I'll get images tomorrow.

If it would be that easy, I wouldn't complain - going back (at least in IE) I just get an empty reply screen - no chance to recover the text >:(.

This was one of my comments - we had a similar problem recently with a reference to Richard More's Strathearn pages: referring to a position on an index page, when the user selects the number of images per page, is bound to fail in many cases.

Re your weight, Sue:

Many images on ScotlandsGlass are scanned catalogue images - decent "original photographs" will usually be better. My recommendation (due to the large backlog of images for ScotlandsGlass)
- post images here (watch the size limit!) for immediate viewing and
- send me the higher resolution original images by direct mail for ScotlandsGlass.

Weights marked CIIG are not necessarily weights with a flaw - could be some special engraving, either on customer's request, or for someone just to practise - and later sold in the factory shop. Your weight will likely fall into the latter category: the standard design is not engraved.

This is shorter than the original (not meant to be less polite) and I'm not taking the risk of deleting this text again by trying to add an attachment :P.

 ;D

Thanks, Wolf. I will get pics tomorrow. I did think the weight might be slightly "related" to some of the planetary types at first given its construction, and I thought the heart/leaf-shapes slightly inconsistent with the theme....  ::)

There have been a couple of engraved C11G weights up recently - I saw a Maydance second recently with added engraving. I always thought they were used for practice as Wuff says.

The beast is not being photogenic  >:( - I shall persevere.  ;D
Should I resort to big bowls of water to cut out refractive indices, or is that just for canes?

Not good enough for Scotland's Glass, but here are some images.
I can't get just ONE image to capture it effectively.  ::)
